Hey Republican voters! Yes, I'm talking to you. After the loss the Democrats handed you this election, I'm surprised I haven't seen more outrage from you. Your party squandered this opportunity, you know: no President has ever been elected to a second term with such bad economic numbers. But your peeps just couldn't get it done (a crazy primary process which pandered to the worst of you played a huge part in why they couldn't get it done).
They offered nothing, no new ideas or inspirational leaders. All they did was create a bullseye for your frustration. Although slinging mud feels good at the moment, as has been played out before you, in the end there's no real value.
They went so far as to engineer an entire media network. And what happened? They ended up lying to themselves. And to you.
The one place where you're still hanging on to a shred of leverage is back in session -- wasting time; making the motions (pun intended), but trotting out already failed policies. They're purposefully ignoring the fact that this election turned out record numbers of people in their districts voting against them.
Actually, one of your own has figured it out. He's realized that by doing the right thing and putting his state first, he, in turn, has helped himself. But your pundits "haaaate" (to quote SNL) him for it.
Isn't it time you, the voters, stood up and demanded better? I know it's been fun to turn a sitting President into a target for your frustrations of defeat, to grandstand about made-up values, and turn cruelty towards others into a sport, but come on! Isn't it about time you contributed something real? Something that actually helps to move us forward? By allowing the worst of you to control you, you're letting your entire nation down.
